10/25: Doug Betters
Posted by: Patrick
PalmBeachPost.com has a Where Are They Now? with former Dolphin Doug Betters. Betters, who lives in Whitefish, Mont., suffered a severe spinal cord injury while skiing in 1998 but maintained movement in his hands and arms. That's just enough mobility to pursue his favorite hobbies: flying a helicopter and fly-fishing.
"It's a production," Betters said of getting into a vehicle. "It reminds me of Shamu, the killer whale, when I get my big self into the airplane. I'm still 6-foot-8, 260, so you can't get somebody to just pick you up."
