05/19: Griese Allows Gov. Crist Uniform Number
Posted by: Patrick
Florida Gov. Charlie Crist visited the Dolphins yesterday and the Dolphins wanted to give him a jersey as a momento from his visit. Crist played QB in high school and apparently wanted number 12 which is, of course, retired in honor of Bob Griese. From Sun-Sentinel.com: ``I said, 'You know that's retired. You can't give that jersey number away,''' Dolphins coach Cam Cameron said Friday. ``I said, 'We better call Bob Griese.' Bob was in North Carolina, and I think got a kick out of that. Bob gave us permission to give out a retired number.''
